Richard Stockton Defeats Rowan, 75-68

GALLOWAY, NJ – Richard Stockton College topped Rowan University, 75-68 on Wednesday night in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action.
 
The Profs are now 3-12 overall and they are 2-6 in the NJAC. The Ospreys have an overall mark of 7-8 and a conference record of 4-4.
 
Stockton guard Alex Nardoza (jr. Fords, NJ/Woodbridge) scored a game-high 28 points and had six steals. Forward Sara Farrell (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) added 15 points and 10 rebounds, while forward Lauren Alwan (sr. Winslow, NJ/Timber Creek) had 11 points and six rebounds. Guard Francesca Gervato (fr. Toms River, NJ/Msgr. Donovan) and forward Cara Parliament (sr. Manchester, NJ/Manchester Twp.) each chipped in with seven points. Parliament also grabbed 10 rebounds.
 
Rowan guard Bria Hill (jr. Atlantic City, NJ/Atlantic City) tallied 14 points. Center Kate Matthews (so. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) recorded 12 points and nine rebounds. Guards Jade Bonder (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and Kaitlin Schullstrom (so. Colts Neck, NJ/Colts Neck) scored 10 points apiece, while guard Anyssa Sanchez (fr. Stratford, NJ/Sterling) added eight points and eight boards.
 
Bonder scored the first five points of the game for a 5-0 Rowan lead (16:56). Stockton used a
14-3 run to go ahead 14-8 (12:19). Nardoza tallied nine points. Forward Megan Russ (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Twp.) nailed a jumper that cut the Profs deficit to one point, 20-19 (5:24), but the Ospreys went on an 11-6 spurt for a 31-25 advantage (0:30). Farrell recorded nine points. Schullstrom's free throw with 17-seconds left made the score 31-26 at the break.
 
Stockton began the second half with a 21-8 run that used 8:11 of the clock and made the score 52-34. Alwan scored seven points, while Nardoza had six and Farrell added four. A Matthews layup got the Profs to within 12 points (58-46) with 7:36 to play. Rowan's 22-9 spurt made the deficit three points, 71-68 (0:23). Schullstrom scored nine points. Nardoza and Gervato each made two free throws in the last 18 seconds for the final points of the game.
 
Rowan will host Rutgers-Newark on Saturday, January 18 at 1 p.m.
