Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team lost to Messiah College, 3-1 on Saturday at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.
In the preseason poll, the Falcons (2-0) were ranked eighth while the Profs (2-1) were 14th. After trailing 1-0, Messiah scored three straight goals in the second half. Forward Rachel Cox (so. Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) scored the first one on a pass at 43:31 from midfielder Emily Bower (sr. Carlisle, PA/Big Spring) after a penalty corner.
Forward Moriah Pfautz (fr. Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) made the score 2-1 (61:04) when she knocked in a rebound. Five minutes later, forward Celina Nissley (jr. Middletown, PA/Lancaster Mennonite) hit the lower right of the cage with a feed from Bower. Rowan got on the scoreboard at 32:29 when midfielder Marisa Marini (so. Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) scored with an assist from forward Courtney Aquino (fr. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton).
Messiah ended the game with 17 shots while Rowan had six. For the Falcons, goalie Molly Gebrosky (sr. Latrobe, PA/Milton Hershey) made two saves. Profs' goalie Steph Colombo (sr. Moorestown, NJ/Camden Catholic) stopped eight shots.
