Volleyball Goes 1-1 On First Day Of Spartan Invitational

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 YORK, PA – The Rowan University women's volleyball team went 1-1 on the first day of the Spartan Invitational on Friday.  Rowan lost its first match, 3-0 against Stevenson University and came back to win 3-0 over Moravian College.  The two-day invitational is being held at York College.

Stevenson won with the set scores of 25-16, 25-12 and 25-19.  For the Profs, outside hitter Erica O'Hagan (fr. Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) registered six kills and middle hitter/outside hitter Dakota Oeskovic (sr. Pine Beach, NJ/Toms River S.) followed with five.  Setter Rebecca Dantonio (fr. Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley) collected 17 assists.  Defensive specialist Nicole Ciandella (sr. Hoboken, NJ/Roselle Catholic) and libero Casey Grasso (sr. Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. DuPont) each had 12 digs.

Against Moravian, outside hitter Danielle Havlicek (so. Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) produced 12 kills and had a .400 hitting percentage.  Middle hitter Morgan Mende (so. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) contributed with 10 kills.  Dantonio compiled 34 assists.  Defensive specialist Lauren Ruffalo (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Grasso had 17 digs apiece.  Middle hitter Elaina Hansen (sr. Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) and outside hitter Kirstin Sciolaro (sr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) posted four and three blocks respectively.  The set scores were 25-21, 25-15 and 25-19. 

On Saturday, Rowan (8-6) plays FDU-Florham at 10 a.m. and Penn State Abington at noon.
