HAVERFORD, PA – The Haverford College women’s lacrosse team edged Rowan University, 10-9 in a nonconference game on Wednesday.
The Fords are undefeated with a 3-0 record while the Profs are 0-3 overall. Midfielder Diana Perry led the team with four goals. Attack Kenny Likes contributed with two goals and one assist. Midfielders Dayna Kim and Christina Gould added two goals apiece and midfielder Perrin Downing had one assist.
For Rowan, midfielder Jamie Blondina (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) totaled four goals and one assist. She registered four caused turnovers and three ground balls. Attack Becca Wood (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) scored three times. Attack Marissa Micciche (jr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) and defender Brittany Bollendorf (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) each produced a goal while midfielder Shannon O’Brien (sr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) had one assist. O’Brien also collected five draw controls.
Haverford totaled 26 shots and Rowan took 25. Fords’ goalie Shannon Horn made 10 saves. Profs’ goalie Lindsay Barrie (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) stopped nine shots.
The second half started with the score tied at six. Likes put the Fords up by one with a goal at 35:55 with an assist from Morgan. The Profs had an 8-7 lead with goals by Wood (36:30) and Blondina (49:13) on free positions. Haverford scored three straight goals for a 10-8 advantage with 6:14 remaining. Perry recorded the tying goal unassisted (51:26). Likes and Gould scored with free position shots at 51:53 and 53:46 respectively. Blondina had the final goal (55:13) unassisted.
In the first period, Blondina put Rowan on the scoreboard first with two straight goals. Haverford went ahead 4-2 at 13:35 with two goals by Kim and one each from Perry and Gould. Perry’s unassisted goal at 18:45 made the score 6-4. Bollendorf (22:03) and Wood (27:10) each hit the net one time, which knotted the score at the break.
Next, Rowan travels to Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday, March 8 for a 6 p.m. contest.
