NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ  – The Rowan University men’s swimming and diving team took fourth place out of 19 teams at the Metropolitan Championships.  The three-day championships were held at Rutgers University.

The Profs finished sixth in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:11.20.  The relay included Pat Malone (jr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), Kyle Surette (fr. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), Larry Dow (jr. Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams) and Mike Demarest (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami). 

Malone swam 1:57.12 in the 200 butterfly for fifth place and Tim Dimond (sr. Allentown, PA/Emmaus) was sixth (1:57.14).  In the 1650 freestyle, Zac Wister (so. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) took sixth (16:32.53) followed by Connor Buck (fr. Eastampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.), seventh (16:42.62).  Chris Alaimo (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) and Gary Hessler (so. Palmyra, NJ/Palmyra) were 16th (17:24.73) and 21st (17:32.96) respectively. 

Dow came in 10th (46.08) in the 100 freestyle while Chris Cannizzaro (so. Cedar Grove, NJ/St. Peter’s Prep) was 10th (1:58.98) in the 200 butterfly.  Patrick Myers (fr. Kennett Square, PA/Kennett Square), Liam Tully (so. Cedar Grove, NJ/St. Peter’s Prep) and Tyler Coe (fr. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.) were 11th (2:12.29), 12th (2:12.45) and 13th (2:13.34) in the 200 breaststroke respectively.  In the 200 backstroke, Surette finished 13th (1:57.60) and Brad Hawkins (jr. Millville, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) was 15th (2:01.65).  Alex Miller (fr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) took 19th (1:59.91) in the 200 backstroke.
