NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ  – The Rowan University women’s swimming and diving team is in fifth place after two days of competition at the Metropolitan Championships.  The three-day championships end on Sunday at Rutgers University.

The Profs came in fifth (1:51.17) in the 200 medley relay and sixth (8:08.90) in the 800 freestyle relay.  The medley relay included Lauren Grajek (jr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.), Victoria Grimsgaard (fr. Eatontown, NJ/Monmouth Reg.), Teresa Stearns (sr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) and Gigi Russo (so. Rumson, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Reg.).  Allison Schneider (jr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford), Olivia Graham (fr. Montclair, NJ/Montclair), Adrienne Bush (jr. Silver Spring, MD/James Hubert Blake) and Leanne Zaug (so. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) were on the freestyle relay.

Schneider finished seventh (4:42.14) in the 400 individual medley.  In the one meter diving, Kylie O’Rourke (sr. West Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Reg.) was seventh with 377 points followed by Catherine Anzano (jr. Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) in eighth place (366.75 points).

Russo took 10th (1:57.11) in the 200 freestyle while Graham and Stearns were 14th (2:00.69) and 17th (1:59.74) respectively.  Grimsgaard was 13th (1:09.50) in the 100 breaststroke, Olivia Wojtowicz (fr. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne’s County) came in 18th (1:10.69) and Samantha Wahl (fr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) was 19th (1:10.79).   

Grajek finished 14th (1:01.20) in the 100 backstroke, Kelly Gallagher (fr. Haddon Twp., NJ/Haddon Twp.) finished 16th (1:01.84) and Sara Seidman (fr. Voorhees, NJEastern Reg.) was 18th (1:02.92).  In the 400 individual medley, Bush took 16th (5:01.96) and Casey Sickler (so. Northfield, NJ/Mainland Reg.) was 19th (5:06.11).  Abby Grasso (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) had a 16th place (1:02.45) in the 100 butterfly and she was 24th (2:04.62) in the 200 free.   

On Sunday, the prelims start at 9:30 a.m. and the finals are at 5:30 p.m.
