NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ  – The Rowan University men’s swimming and diving team remains in fifth place after two days of competition at the Metropolitan Championships.  The championships conclude on Sunday at Rutgers University.

The Profs took third (1:34.08) in the 200 medley relay and fourth (7:04.28) in the 800 freestyle relay.  The medley relay consisted of Larry Dow (jr. Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams), Tyler Coe (fr. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.), Tim Dimond (sr. Allentown, PA/Emmaus) and Pat Malone (jr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic).  Kyle Surette (fr. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), Zac Wister (so. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights), Connor Buck (fr. Eastampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.)  and Chris Cannizzaro (so. Cedar Grove, NJ/St. Peter’s Prep) made up the freestyle relay. 

Dow came in third in the 100 backstroke with a school record and NCAA B cut time of 50.20.  He improved on his school mark, 50.26 from last season.  The NCAA B cut time is 51.77.  Surette came in fourth (4:12.26) in the 400 individual medley and Alex Miller (fr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) was 10th (4:20.81).  Coe swam 58.69 in the 100 breaststroke for sixth place. 

Malone finished 14th (52.08) in the 100 butterfly while Cannizzaro was 21st (53.26).  Wister took 14th (1:45.68) in the 200 freestyle and Buck followed 19th (1:46.83).  In the 100 backstroke, Brad Hawkins (jr. Millville, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) had a 13th place (54.52) while Mike Demarest (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) and Ben Cain (so. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) were 16th (56.21) and 24th (58.86) respectively.  Patrick Myers (fr. Kennett Square, PA/Kennett) took 20th (1:00.67) in the 100 breaststroke.     

On Sunday, the prelims start at 9:30 a.m. and the finals are at 5:30 p.m.
