NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – The Rowan University men’s swimming and diving team competed at the Metropolitan Championships on Friday. The Profs are in eighth place after the first day of competition. The three-day championships continue on Saturday and Sunday at Rutgers University.
Rowan took fourth place in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:27.76. The medley relay consisted of Larry Dow (jr. Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams), Tyler Coe (fr. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.), Chris Cannizzaro (so. Cedar Grove, NJ/St. Peter’s Prep) and Pat Malone (jr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic). Zac Wister (so. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) finished 11th (4:46.69) in the 500 freestyle. Connor Buck (fr. Eastampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) came in 14th (4:48.44) and Cannizzaro was 24th (5:00.58).
Killian O’Gorman (fr. Short Hills, NJ/Millburn) had an eighth place in the one meter diving. He totaled 333.45 points. In the 200 individual medley, Malone came in 17th (1:56.30) and Kyle Surette (fr. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) followed 18th (1:56.57). Patrick Myers (fr. Kennett Square, PA/Kennett) and Alex Miller (fr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) were 20th (1:59.90) and 24th (2:25.08) respectively.
On Saturday and Sunday, the prelims start at 9:30 a.m. and the finals each day are at 5:30 p.m.
