WAYNE, NJ – Rowan University dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game at William Paterson University, 95-64 on Wednesday night.
The Profs are now 2-6 overall and they have a 2-3 record in the NJAC. The Pioneers are 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference. William Paterson head coach Erin Monahan collected her 400
th career victory.
Forward Dana Jeter (sr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) led all scorers with 18 points for the Pioneers. She also grabbed 11 rebounds. Guard Floriana Borova (sr. Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) added 15 points, while forward Maya Harris (fr. Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) tallied 14 points and eight rebounds. Guard Brittany Harden (so. Millville, NJ/Sacred Heart) corralled 10 rebounds.
Guards Bria Hill (jr. Atlantic City, NJ/Atlantic City), Jade Bonder (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and Anyssa Sanchez (fr. Stratford, NJ/Sterling) each scored 12 points. Sanchez and Hill recorded nine and five rebounds respectively. Center Kate Matthews (so. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) recorded seven points and five rebounds.
William Paterson scored the first 10 points of the game for a 10-0 lead at 17:09. Jeter and Harris scored four points, while Borova tallied two points. Rowan then tallied the next seven points as Hill had four and Bonder hit a three-pointer that made the score 10-7 with 16:15 on the clock. The Pioneers used a 19-2 run for a 20-point advantage (29-9) at the 10:21 mark. Harden led with eight points. The Profs could only get as close as 14 points, which was the halftime margin as William Paterson led 43-29. Jeter and Borova each had 10 points in the first half.
In the second half forward Megan Russ (sr. Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Twp.) and Bonder scored back-to-back baskets, making the score 43-33 (19:07). A 29-9 run by the Pioneers put the game out of reach (72-42) at the 9:23 mark of the second half.
Rowan will return home on Saturday, December 14 when they host Widener University at 5 p.m.
