Field Hockey Upsets No. 1 Ranked Montclair State, 3-2

Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team upset number one ranked Montclair State University, 3-2 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday afternoon.

Forward Jenna Pressler (fr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) scored the winning goal at 57:48 on a breakaway.  She blasted a shot from the right side of the circle that went into the left side of the cage.  Pressler ended the game with two goals.     

It was the Red Hawks' first loss on the season.  Montclair State is 10-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference.  Rowan has a 5-5 record with a 1-1 NJAC mark.

Rowan started the game with two straight goals.  Forward Kellie Campbell (jr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) had the first one at 2:50, when she tapped in a loose ball.  Pressler knocked in a rebound at 6:19 for the second goal. 

Midfielder Jennifer Tafro (sr. Little Falls, NJ/Passaic Valley) cut the deficit to one at 23:35.  She dribbled the ball into the circle after the penalty corner then scored with a shot to the left side.  In the second half, midfielder Meghan Weiss (so. Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands) tied the score at 48:22 with an assist from forward/midfielder Brooke Hullings (sr. Delran, NJ/Delran). 

Profs' goalie Steph Colombo (sr. Moorestown, NJ/Camden Catholic) stopped seven shots and Red Hawks' goalie Rebecca Brattole (so. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) had one save.
