Women's Soccer Wins 3-2 In Two Overtimes Against The College of New Jersey

Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – Forward Erika Suhl scored the winning goal in overtime for the Rowan University women's soccer team in a 3-2 victory against The College of New Jersey on Wednesday night.  With the win, the Profs secured the second seed in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament.

Suhl (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) hit the Lions' net on a breakaway with 5:01 remaining in the second 10-minute overtime.  Rowan receives a bye in the first round of the NJAC Championship Tournament that starts on Saturday, November 2 and will host a semifinal game on Tuesday, November 5.

The Profs are 16-2 overall and they finished 8-1 in the conference.  The Lions have a 14-2-1 record with a 6-2-1 final NJAC mark.  TCNJ is the third seed in the conference tournament.  Rowan goalie Carleigh Trivino (fr. Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) made nine saves.  For TCNJ, goalie Kendra Griffith (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) stopped six shots.

The score was tied at one going into the second half.  The Lions went up 2-1 on a goal by midfielder Taylor Lusardi (so. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) at 57:06.  She hit the left side of the net on a corner kick by back Brianna Petro (fr. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan).  Forward Dayna Sakalsky (sr. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) knotted the score at 60:20.  She headed the ball into the net after a cross by midfielder Chelsea Pitonyak (jr. Yardville, NJ/Steinert) skimmed Griffith's fingers. 

Forward Korrie Harkins (jr. Wenonah, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) put TCNJ on the scoreboard first at 9:08.  Petro sent the ball into the box and Harkins' shot went into the lower left corner.  Back Kayla Leahey (jr. Keansburg, NJ/Warwick Valley (NY)) tied the score at 22:49 with a blasting shot from outside the box that hit the left side of the goal.
