GLASSBORO, NJ  – The Rowan University women’s swimming and diving team lost to The College of New Jersey, 185-115 on Saturday.  With the win, TCNJ captured the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship.

The Lions are 6-0 overall and they finished 4-0 in the conference.  The Profs have a 7-5 record with a 2-1 NJAC mark.  The College of New Jersey won the 200 medley relay (1:51.75) while Rowan came in first in the 400 freestyle relay (3:42.65).  The Lions’ medley relay included Ashley Conroy (jr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), Nicole Muha (so. Dunnellen, NJ/Dunnellen), Brennah Ross (so. Paoli, PA/Cyber Charter School) and Kayleigh Shangle (sr. Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park).  Olivia Graham (fr. Montclair, NJ/Montclair), Victoria Grimsgaard (fr. Eastontown, NJ/Monmouth Reg.), Teresa Stearns (sr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) and Gigi Russo (so. Rumson, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Reg.) made up the Profs’ freestyle relay.

Rowan took second place (1:54.98) in the 200 medley relay with Kelly Gallagher (fr. Haddon Twp., NJ/Haddon Twp.), Grimsgaard, Stearns and Russo.  Graham swam a winning time of 2:00.37 in the 200 freestyle.  Grimsgaard finished second (25.13) in the 50 free and Russo was third (25.49).  In the 100 freestyle, Grimsgaard and Russo were second (55.06) and third (55.99) respectively.   

Allison Schneider (jr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) was the winner (10:50.43) in the 1000 freestyle and she was second (5:20.62) in the 500.  Olivia Wojtowicz (fr. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne’s County) came in second in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.54) and 200 individual medley (2:21.46).  She had a third place (2:39.22) in the 200 breaststroke.  Samantha Wahl (fr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) came in second (2:36.52) in the 200 breaststroke.  She finished third in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.62) and the 200 individual medley (2:24.47).  

Abby Grasso (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) took second (2:22.06) in the 200 butterfly and she was third (1:04.81) in the 100 butterfly.  Lauren Grajek (jr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold) came in third in the 100 (1:03.51) and 200 (2:19.35) backstrokes.  Julia DelNero (fr. Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) took third place (11:26.33) in the 1000 freestyle.  Catherine Anzano (jr. Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) finished third in the one (206.70 points) and three (202.12 points) diving.

For TCNJ, Shangle was the winner in the 50 free (24.96) and 200 breaststroke (2:28.84).  Muha won the 100 breaststroke (1:10.66) and the 200 individual medley (2:19.17).  Ross finished first (1:00.29) in the 100 butterfly and second (2:00.40) in the 200 freestyle.  Danica Roskos (sr. Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley) won the one and three meter diving with 301.35 and 304.42 points respectively.  Conroy was the winner in the 100 freestyle (54.72) and 100 backstroke (1:00.47).  Amy Schurer (jr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) took first (2:19.27) in the 200 butterfly and Hailey Growney (jr. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) had a first place (2:14.63) in the 200 backstroke.  

Next week, Rowan University ends the regular season at Ramapo College on Saturday, February 2 at 2 p.m.
