MONTCLAIR, NJ – The Rowan University women’s swimming & diving team won 153-123 at conference opponent Montclair State University on Saturday afternoon.
The Profs are 7-4 overall and 2-0 the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Red Hawks are 4-5 on the season with a 0-2 conference mark.
Rowan took first place in the 200 medley (1:56.19) and 400 freestyle (3:43.91) relays. The medley relay consisted of Lindsey Raleigh (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.), Victoria Grimsgaard (fr. Eatontown, NJ/Monmouth Reg.), Teresa Stearns (sr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) and Gigi Russo (so. Rumson, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Reg.). Olivia Graham (fr. Montclair, NJ/Montclair), Grimsgaard, Stearns and Russo were on the free relay.
Allison Schneider (jr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) came in first in the 500 (5:31.13) and 1000 (11:16.93) freestyles. Gimsgaard had first places in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.54) and 100 freestyle (55.25). In the 50 free, Russo took first (25.76) while Stearns and Graham were third (26.30) and fourth (26.47) respectively. Russo also finished second (56.35) in the 100 free followed by Graham third (56.85).
Lauren Grajek (jr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) was the winner in the 100 (1:04.91) and 200 (2:17.94) backstrokes. Graham swam a winning time of 2:03.16 in the 200 freestyle. Kelly Gallagher (fr. Haddon Twp., NJ/Haddon Twp.) took second (1:05.25) in the 100 backstroke and came in third (2:22.56) in the 200 back. Abby Grasso (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) finished third (2:26.82) in the 200 butterfly. Leanne Zaug (so. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) was third (2:05.64) in the 200 freestyle.
In the one meter diving, Rachel Anzano (so. Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) took first place with 127.20 points. Kylie O’Rouke (sr. West Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Reg.) followed second (126.0 points) and Catherine Anzano (jr. Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) was third (122.60 points).
Next week, Rowan University hosts The College of New Jersey on Saturday, January 22. The diving starts at 1 p.m. followed by the swimming events at 2 p.m. It is the last home meet of the season for the Profs.
