MONTCLAIR, NJ – The Rowan University men’s swimming & diving team won at Montclair State University, 162-109 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) meet on Saturday afternoon.
The Profs have won seven straight meets and improve to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Red Hawks have a 3-6 record with a 0-2 NJAC mark.
Rowan won the 200 medley (1:39.76) and 400 freestyle (3:23.30) relays. The medley relay was comprised of Larry Dow (jr. Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams), Tyler Coe (fr. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.), Pat Malone (jr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and Ben Cain (so. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit). Dow, Mike Demarest (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami), Tim Dimond (sr. Allentown, PA/Emmaus) and Max Tyburski (sr. Burke, VA/Lake Braddock Secondary) were on the freestyle relay.
Tyburski captured first in the 50 (21.54) and 100 (49.37) freestyles and 100 butterfly (53.31). Malone was the winner in the 200 freestyle (1:46.82) and 200 individual medley (2:05.33). Coe had first place finishes in the 100 (1:00.74) and 200 (2:17.25) breaststrokes. Dow came in first (56.66) in the 100 backstroke and fourth (23.32) in the 50 freestyle.
Zac Wister (so. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) took first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:21.30. Chris Cannizzaro (so. Cedar Grove, NJ/St. Peter’s Prep) was first (2:06.53) in the 200 butterfly, followed by Alex Miller (fr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn), second (2:11.69) and Chris Alaimo (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), third (2:12.12). Kyle Surette (fr. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) won the 200 backstroke in 2:04.73. Connor Buck (fr. Eastampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) had a first place (4:58.62) in the 500 freestyle. Killian O’Gorman (fr. Short Hills, NJ/Millburn) was the winner in the one meter diving with 119.90 points.
Patrick Myers (fr. Kennett Square, PA/Kennett) was second (1:03.91) in the 100 breaststroke. Cain placed third (23.29) in the 50 freestyle. Demarest had a third place (50.78) in the 100 freestyle.
Rowan hosts The College of New Jersey on Saturday, January 26. The diving will begin at 1 p.m. followed by the swimming events at 2 p.m.
