FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The Rowan University women’s soccer team blanked Guilford College, 4-0 on Saturday at the University of Mary Washington Tournament.
In the first game, Mary Washington (3-0) had a 2-0 win over Catholic University (0-3). On Sunday, Rowan (1-0) faces Catholic at 12:30 p.m. while Mary Washington plays Guilford (0-4) at 3 p.m.
Forward Erika Suhl (so. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) led the Profs with two goals and one assist. Midfielder Dayna Sakalsky (jr. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) contributed with a goal and an assist. Midfielder Morgan Muracco (sr. Washington Twp., NJ/Paul VI) chipped in with a goal and midfielder Nina Fragoso (sr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) had an assist.
All of the scoring came in the second half. Suhl scored her first goal at 48:57 on a feed from Sakalsky. Muracco hit the net at 51:46 with an assist from Suhl. Sakalsky had the third goal at 57:33 and Fragoso produced the assist. Suhl ended the scoring with an unassisted goal at 66:25.
Rowan totaled 16 shots while Guilford only had one. Goalkeeper Maria Dorris (sr. Mantua, NJ/Clearview Reg.) made one save for the shutout. For the Quakers, goalie Miriam Davis-Rosenbaum (sr. Lexington, KY/Lafayette) stopped four shots.
