GLASSBORO, NJ – The Baptist Bible College women’s volleyball team edged Rowan University, 3-2 in a nonconference match on Wednesday night.  The set scores were 26-24, 24-26, 25-23, 14-25 and 15-12.

The Defenders improve to 2-1, while the Profs have a 2-3 record.  Baptist Bible was led by middle hitter Jessica White (sr. Lakeland, FL/Lakeland Christian) with 17 kills, 12 digs and three blocks.  She produced a .325 hitting percentage.  Outside hitter Emily Gordon (sr. Grand Blanc, MI/Genesee Christian) posted 11 kills and 11 digs.  Middle hitter Hannah Griffith (jr. Parma, MI/Western High) added 10 kills. 

Setter Hannah Rehm (jr. Smithville, OH/Smithville High) tallied 37 assists and 18 digs.  Middle hitter Jaycee Shirk (sr. Batavia, NY/Batavia) compiled eight kills, 26 digs and four service aces.  Libero Julia Armstrong (jr. Jonestown, PA/Blue Mountain Christian) and outside hitter Taryn Fritz (so. Allendale, MI/Allendale) chipped in with 12 and 10 digs respectively.

For Rowan, middle blocker Nikki Binetti (so. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) registered 16 kills and four blocks.  Outside hitter Katie Havlicek (sr. Midland Park, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) accumulated 12 kills and 15 digs.  Outside hitter/middle blocker Dakota Oeskovic (jr. Pine Beach, NJ/Toms River S.) recorded 11 kills.  Setter Nicole Ciandella (jr. Hoboken, NJ/Roselle Catholic) totaled a match-high 39 assists and 12 digs. 

Libero Lauren Ruffalo (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) collected 16 digs and defensive specialist Marissa Micciche (jr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) had 13.  Defensive specialist Casey Grasso (jr. Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) contributed with 12 digs and five service aces.

Rowan hosts a tri-match on Saturday, September 8.  The Profs play Penn State Brandywine at 11 a.m. and Albright College at 3 p.m.
