GLASSBORO, NJ – Midfielder Ryan Gordon’s penalty kick in double overtime gave Rowan University a 2-1 victory over FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon.

Rowan improves to 4-4, while FDU-Florham has a 5-5 record.  With 1:39 remaining in the second overtime, Profs’ forward Christian Fountain (so. Fredericksburg, VA/Stafford) was fouled in the box.  Gordon took the penalty kick and sent the ball into the lower left corner of the net.

Midfielder Josh Corpuz (sr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) gave FDU-Florham a 1-0 lead at 14:24 in the first half.  He headed in a cross from midfielder Emin Matezic (sr. Bronx, NY/BMCC).  Rowan tied the game (1-1) at 43:44.  Midfielder Parker Oris (so. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) had a header off a corner kick and midfielder Dylan Smith (jr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) headed the ball into the net.

FDU-Florham took 20 shots and Rowan had 19.  Profs’ goalkeeper Michael Fanz-Huster (sr. Waterford, NJ/Hammonton) made one save in the first half.  Goalkeeper Ryan Gill (jr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) stopped seven shots in the final 63:21.  Devils’ goalkeeper Andrew D’Angelo (fr. Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) turned away eight shots.

Rowan travels to Richard Stockton College on Wednesday, September 26 for an 8 p.m. conference game.
