Rowan Suffers Overtime Loss To Rutgers-Camden, 2-1

GLASSBORO, NJ – Forward Mike Ryan scored the game winning goal in overtime to give 14th ranked Rutgers-Camden a 2-1 win over Rowan University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday night.

Ryan (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) was able to punch in a rebound from forward Corey Beltran's (so. Fairfax, VA/Williamstown) shot that deflected off the Rowan goalkeeper.  Rutgers-Camden  improves to 6-1 and 1-1 in the conference. Rowan drops to 3-4 overall with a 0-2 NJAC mark.

Scoring opened up at 5:56 in the first half when Rowan back Nick Bolton (jr. Dover, DE/Dover) headed a ball in off a throw-in from back Dave Schwartz (so. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Valley Forge Military Academy).  Rutgers-Camden evened the score at 1-1 by capitalizing on a penalty kick taken by midfielder Joe Auleta (so. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) late in the first half at 40:55.

Rutgers-Camden out shot Rowan 23-11.  Goalkeeper Mike Randall (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) made three saves for the Scarlet Raptors.  Profs’ goalkeeper Michael Fanz-Huster (sr. Waterford, NJ/Hammonton) stopped three shots. 

Rowan hosts FDU-Florham on Saturday, September 22 at 7 p.m. in a nonconference matchup.
