INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Rowan University’s Christie Raleigh won the 100 freestyle for All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday night. The national championships were held at the Indiana University Natatorium.
Raleigh (jr. Toms River, NJ/Pine Crest School (FL)) swam a winning time of 49.94. In the morning prelims, she had the fastest time (50.11) going into the final. Raleigh improved on her school record and NCAA qualifying time of 51.04.
In addition, Raleigh earned All-America in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. On Wednesday, she came in second in the 50 free with a school record time of 23.09. Raleigh finished second in the 100 butterfly in 53.92 on Thursday, which was a University mark. In the prelims, she had times of 23.18 and 54.73 in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly respectively.
In the three events, Raleigh totaled 54 points and Rowan finished 16th in the team scoring. The team championship was won by Emory University for the third straight year. Williams College took second place followed by Denison University third. Kenyon College and Stevens Institute of Technology were fourth and fifth respectively. There were a total of 54 teams at the national championships.
Raleigh currently has the individual school records in the 50 (23.09), 100 (49.94) and 200 (1:55.21) freestyles, 100 backstroke (56.48) and the 100 butterfly (53.92). She is also a member of the 400 (3:33.78) and 800 (7:56.61) freestyle relays that have the University marks.
