GLASSBORO, NJ –The Rowan University women’s swim team won 187-75 over Ramapo College in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) meet on Saturday.   

The Profs have a 6-1 record with a 3-1 conference mark.  The Roadrunners are 1-5 overall and   1-3 in the NJAC.

Rowan swam a winning time of 1:54.50 in the 200 medley relay with Lindsey Raleigh (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.), Lauren Grajek (so. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.), Christie Raleigh (jr. Toms River, NJ/Pine Crest School (FL)) and Teresa Stearns (jr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit).  The Profs’ 400 freestyle relay took first place in 3:50.09.  The free relay included Allison Schneider (so. Cranford, NJ/Cranford), Stearns, Gigi Russo (fr. Rumson, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven, Reg.) and Leanne Zaug (fr. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park).

Christie Raleigh won the 100 backstroke (56.48), 50 free (24.10) and 100 (57.27) butterfly.  She broke the school records in the 100 backstroke (59.37 by Kate Winters in 2011) and 100 butterfly (57.90 by Shannon Carrigan in 2005).  Grajek finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.97) and 200 backstroke (2:15.91).  She also had a third place (2:29.17) in the 200 individual medley.  Alyssa Schaefer (fr. Ringwood, NJ/DePaul Catholic) came in first (11:37.93) in the 1000 freestyle and was third (5:43.32) in the 500 free. 

In the 200 butterfly, Charlene Gustafson (so. Clifton, NJ/Clifton) and Abby Grasso (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) were first (2:17.97) and second (2:19.78) respectively.  Gustafson also took second (1:02.61) in the 100 butterfly and Grasso followed third (1:04.39).  Russo won the 200 (1:59.64) and 100 (54.59) freestyles.   

Casey Sickler (fr. Northfield, NJ/Mainland Reg.) swam a winning time of 2:41.57 in the 200 breaststroke.  She finished second (2:27.89) in the 200 individual medley.  Schneider was the winner (5:26.50) the 500 freestyle and was second (2:00.59) in the 200 free.  Stearns finished second (25.57) in the 50 free.  Adrienne Bush (so. Silver Spring, MD/James Hubert Blake) had a second place (5:38.33) in the 500 freestyle.

Lindsey Raleigh captured third (1:16.04) in the 100 breaststroke and Zaug took third (59.22) in the 100 freestyle.  Kristy Hill (jr. Turnersville, NJ/Washington Twp.) finished third (12:02.92) in the 1000 freestyle.  Nicole Vick (fr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) had third places in the 100 (1:07.56) and 200 (2:26.26) backstrokes.  

Ramapo’s Maggie Nagle (fr. Little Silver, NJ/Red Bank Reg.) won (2:22.81) the 200 IM and she was second (2:21.40) in the 200 backstroke.  Lauren Keller (fr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) finished second (56.36) in the 100 freestyle and had third places in the 200 (2:03.17) and 50 (25.75) free.  Kylie Suydam (fr. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) took second (12:00.00) in the 1000 freestyle and Kelsey Rosko (fr. Edison, NJ/Bishop George Ahr) came in second (1:06.80) in the 100 backstroke.

Stephanie Sinck (sr. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) finished second (1:15.02) in the 100 breaststroke.  She was also second (2:41.75) in the 200 breaststroke followed by Jill Tracey (so. Stillwater, NJ/Kittatinny Reg.) third (2:53.90).  In the 200 butterfly, Jamie Stein (fr. Sloatsburg, NY/Suffern) and Kathleen Fitzgerald (fr. West Milford, NJ/West Milford) were third (2:27.80) and fourth (2:33.63) respectively.  

Next, Rowan will compete at the Metropolitan Championships on Friday, February 17 through Sunday, February 19 at Rutgers University in New Brunswick.
