NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ –The Rowan University men’s swim team ended one day of competition at the Metropolitan Championships on Friday.  The three day championships are being held at Rutgers University.

The Profs’ 400 medley relay captured second in 3:22.70 with Larry Dow (so. Alexandria, NJ/T.C. Williams), Dan Bower (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.), Max Tyburski (jr. Burke, VA/Lake Braddock Secondary) and Bill Malone (sr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic).  They broke the school record (3:24.91) and their time was a NCAA B cut (3:25.98). 

The 200 freestyle relay finished third with a time of 1:23.05, which was a NCAA B cut (1:23.51).  The free relay consisted of Tyburski, Dow, Troy Cervini (fr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) and Malone.  The relay also had a NCAA B cut in the prelims with 1:23.02.  This season at the Swarthmore College Invitational, Rowan swam a NCAA B cut of 1:22.81 and broke the school record.

Tyburski tied for second in the 50 freestyle.  His time of 20.60 was better than the NCAA B cut of 20.93.  He also had a NCAA B cut of 20.75 in the prelims.  In the 50 free, Dow finished seventh (21.05) followed by Malone eighth (21.27). 

Tim Dimond (jr. Allentown, PA/Emmaus) took ninth in the 500 freestyle.  He had a season best of 4:41.95.  Chris Cannizzaro (fr Cedar Grove, NJ/St. Peter’s Prep) and Gary Hessler (fr. Palmyra, NJ/Palmyra) were 15th (4:57.24) and 16th (4:58.87) respectively in the 500 free while Chris Alaimo (fr. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) finished 21st (4:59.84).

Pat Malone (so. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) came in 11th (1:57.35) in the 200 individual medley.  Bower took 20th (2:01.12) and Brad Hawkins (so. Millville, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) was 23rd (2:03.73).
