GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men’s swimming and diving team had a 137-93 win over William Paterson University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) meet on Saturday.
The Profs improve to 4-3 overall, while the Pioneers have a 0-3 record. It was the first conference meet for both teams. Rowan took first place in the 200 medley (1:38.26) and 200 freestyle (1:32.84) relays. The medley relay consisted of Larry Dow (jr. Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams), Max Tyburski (sr. Burke, VA/Lake Braddock Secondary), Tim Dimond (sr. Allentown, PA/Emmaus) and Ben Cain (so. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit). Connor Buck (fr. Eastampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.), Cain, Chris Cannizzaro (so. Cedar Grove, NJ/St. Peter’s Prep) and Mike Demarest (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) were on the freestyle relay.
Tyburski was the winner in the 50 freestyle (20.92) and 100 breaststroke (59.52). Pat Malone (jr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) captured first in the 100 freestyle (48.27) and 200 individual medley (2:00.18). Dow finished first in the 100 butterfly (54.15) and second in the 50 freestyle (21.79).
Chris Alaimo (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) had a first place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:48.18. In the 500 freestyle, Buck took first (4:57.08) followed by Kyle Surette (fr. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), second (4:59.44) and Brad Hawkins (jr. Millville, NJ/Cumberland Reg.), third (5:16.03). Surette was first (1:48.93) in the 200 freestyle. Zac Wister (so. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) won the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.29.
Tyler Coe (fr. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.) and Patrick Myers (fr. Kennett Square, PA/Kennett) were second (1:00.18) and third (1:04.25) respectively in the 100 breaststroke. Joe Licwinko (so. Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearley) came in fourth (22.78) in the 50 freestyle. In the three meter diving, Killian O’Gorman (fr. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) was second with 147.45 points.
For William Paterson, Jeffrey Jaeckel (jr. Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearley) won the one (227.48 points) and three (236.17 points) meter diving. Alex Carpenter (sr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) captured second place (11:35.00) in the 1000 freestyle. Sebastian Schrils (sr. Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Reg.) was second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 55.39.
Rowan hosts Swarthmore College in a nonconference meet on Saturday, November 17 at 1 p.m.
