HAVERFORD, PA – The Haverford College men’s soccer team had a 3-1 win over Rowan University in a nonconference game on Tuesday evening.
The Fords improve to 7-4, while the Profs have a 5-5-1 record. Forward Christian Fountain (so. Fredericksburg, VA/Stafford) knocked in a pass from midfielder Ryan Gordon (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) to give Rowan a 1-0 lead at 1:37 in the first period. It was Fountain’s fifth goal of the season. Haverford tied the game (1-1) on a goal by midfielder Matt Gorski (sr. Boston, MA/Phillips Academy) at 25:45. Midfielder Colin Seitz (fr. San Diego, CA/Canyon Crest Academy) passed the ball to Gorski, who kicked it off the left post from 18 yards out.
With 6:22 remaining in the second half, midfielder Dan Gafing (sr. East Windsor, NJ/Peddie School) had an unassisted goal. Forward Sam Yarosh (fr. West Chester, PA/Unionville) found the net on a feed from Seitz with 1:11 left on the clock.
Haverford took 19 shots and Rowan had 18. Goalkeeper Andriy Mshanetskyy (jr. Durham, England/Durham Johnston School) stopped nine shots. Profs’ goalkeeper Michael Fanz-Huster (sr. Waterford, NJ/Hammonton) made three saves in the first period. Goalkeeper Ryan Gill (jr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) turned away three shots in the second half.
Rowan travels to Santa Cruz, CA on Friday-Saturday, October 5-6. On Friday, the Profs play LaSierra University at 6 p.m. The men’s soccer team faces the University of California-Santa Cruz on Saturday at 6 p.m.
