GLASSBORO, NJ – Forward Dayna Sakalsky scored the winning goal for the Rowan University women’s soccer team in a 1-0 overtime victory against Roanoke College on Monday evening.
Sakalsky (jr. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) recorded the game-winner at 1:39 into the overtime. She knocked a rebound into the left side of the net after forward Erika Suhl’s (so. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) shot was deflected by goalie Carolyn Sarbacher (so. Dunkirk, MD/Northern). Rowan has an 11-2 record with a six-game win streak. Roanoke is 8-5-2 on the season.
The Profs totaled 18 shots while the Maroons took six. Goalkeeper Maria Dorris (sr. Mantua, NJ/Clearview Reg.) made two saves for her ninth shutout while Sarbacher stopped seven shots.
Next, Rowan travels to Kean University on Saturday, October 20 for a 4:30 p.m. conference game.
