MADISON, NJ – The Rowan University men’s soccer team had a 3-1 victory over FDU-Florham in a nonconference game on Saturday evening.

The Profs improve to 3-3-2, while the Devils have a 3-6 record. Rowan forward Ryan Gordon (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) and backs Zack Zahrend (sr. Seaville, NJ/Ocean City) and Jared Mangone (jr. Princeton Jct., NJ/West-Windsor Plainsboro N.) each scored one goal. Forward Julian Berrios (jr. Lakewood, NJ/Calvary Academy) picked up one assist. Midfielder Josh Corpuz (jr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) had FDU-Florham’s lone goal.

FDU-Florham took 19 shots and Rowan had 12. Profs’ goalkeeper Michael Fanz-Huster (jr. Waterford, NJ/Hammonton) made five saves. Goalkeeper Tim Kirk (jr. Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) stopped one shot in the Devils’ net.

After a scoreless first half, Zahrend’s goal gave Rowan a 1-0 lead at 53:47. Berrios assisted on the play. Mangone recorded an unassisted goal at 73:07. Corpuz cut the deficit to one (2-1) at 78:03. With 44 seconds remaining, Gordon found the net with an unassisted goal.

Rowan hosts conference opponent Richard Stockton College on Wednesday, September 28 at 7 p.m.
