Rutgers-Camden Blanks Rowan, 3-0

CAMDEN, NJ – Forward Mitch Grotti registered two goals and one assist to lead Rutgers-Camden to a 3-0 victory over Rowan University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday night.

Rutgers-Camden improves to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Rowan has a 2-3-2 record with a 0-1-1 NJAC mark.

Grotti scored an unassisted goal at 33:46 in the first period to give the Scarlet Raptors a 1-0 lead. At 85:18 in the second half, midfielder Zaiere Putmon (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) knocked in a cross from Grotti. Back Taylor McGrory (so. Laurel Springs, NJ/Sterling) also assisted on the play. Grotti’s second goal came 1:08 later on a feed from midfielder Joe Auleta (fr. Atco, NJ/Hammonton).

The Scarlet Raptors took 15 shots, while the Profs had 12. Rutgers-Camden goalkeeper Tim VanLiew (sr. Deptford, NJ/Deptford) made one save for the shutout. Goalkeeper Ryan Gill (so. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) stopped five shots in Rowan’s net.

The Profs travel to FDU-Florham for a nonconference game on Saturday, September 24 at 11 a.m.
