HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team lost to third ranked Otterbein College (OH), 1-0 in the first round of the Centenary College Tournament on Friday.

It was the season opener for both teams. On Saturday, Rowan plays host Centenary at 3 p.m. Prior, Otterbein faces Drew University at 1 p.m. Centenary defeated Drew, 4-1 in the first round.

Last year, Otterbein finished the year with a 20-0-4 record and advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Midfielder Morgan Hendrickson (so. Pickerington, OH/North) scored the winning goal at 11:26. Hendrickson knocked in a corner kick by midfielder Rachel Denz (jr. Westerville, OH/St. Francis DeSales).

The Cardinals ended the game with 11 shots while Rowan took eight. In the Otterbein goal, Sarah Uhlenbrock (fr. Newtown, OH/Turpin) played the first half while Melissa Zang (fr. Romeo, MI/Romeo) made one save in the second. For the Profs, goalkeeper Lyndsie Bernardini (jr. Elmer, NJ/A.P. Schalick) stopped four shots.
