Second Day Results
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – The Rowan University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed on the second day of the Metropolitan Championships on Saturday. The three day meet is being held at Rutgers University.
After two days, the Prof men are in third place out of 18 teams with 538.5 points. The women are sixth among 21 schools with 446 points.
The men took fifth place in the 200 yard medley (1:37.36) and 800 yard freestyle (7:10.20) relays. Stefan Pietrobono (fr. Newark, DE/Brandywine), Dan Bower (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.), Tim Dimond (fr. Allentown, PA/Emmaus) and Bill Malone (so. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) made up the medley relay. The freestyle relay was comprised of Dimond, Malone, Michael Brooks (jr. Brigantine, NJ/Holy Spirit) and Kyle Banks (fr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro).
Dimond finished fourth in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.10. Bower captured fifth place (1:00.04) in the 100 yard breaststroke, while Jake Taylor (so. Millville, NJ/Millville) was eighth (1:01.95). Pietrobono came in ninth in the 100 yard backstroke (53.63) and Steve Tucker (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/Sacred Heart) took 14th in the 100 yard butterfly (53.84).
The women’s 200 yard medley relay of Kate Winters (jr. Princeton Jct., NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.), Stacey Rahter (jr. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.), Anne O’Gorman (jr. Boonton, NJ/Academy of St. Elizabeth) and Lauren Hauser (sr. Mountainside, NJ/Governor Livingston) finished sixth (1:53.41). Winters, Julie Furdyna (jr. Livingston, NJ/Livingston), Caroline Lewis (jr. Monroeville, NJ/Woodstown) and Kate Toomer (fr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) made up the 800 yard freestyle relay that was sixth (8:15.45).
Winters captured fourth place in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:39.53. Rahter came in eighth in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:08.98. In the 100 yard butterfly, O’Gorman took ninth (1:01.68) and Steph McAllister (sr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) was 13th (1:03.70).
The Metropolitan Championships continue on Sunday, February 21.
