KINGS POINT, NY – The Rowan University women’s swimming and diving team won 145-141 over Division II C.W. Post on Saturday. The meet was held at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
Rowan (4-1) came in second (3:44.85) in the 400 yard freestyle relay and the 200 yard medley relay finished third (1:54.57). Kate Winters (sr. Princeton Jct., NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.), Briana Baud (fr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford), Allison Schneider (fr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) and Teresa Stearns (so. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) were on the free relay. The medley relay included Winters, Stacey Rahter (sr. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.), Anne O’Gorman (sr. Boonton, NJ/Academy of St. Elizabeth) and Stearns.
Winters and Schneider each won two individual events. In the backstroke events, Winters had times of 1:02.12 and 2:11.95 in the 100 and 200 respectively. Schneider finished first in the 500 (5:16.69) and 1000 (10:44.09) yard freestyles.
Sam Rottkamp (jr. Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) took first place in the one (244.20 points) and three meter (210.50 points) diving. In the one meter diving, Kylie O’Rourke (so. N. Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Reg.) was second (189.45 points) followed by Catherine Anzano (so. Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) third (184.20 points). O’Rourke also took second (181.50 points) on the three meter board.
O’Gorman had second places in the 100 (1:00.99) and 200 (2:14.69) yard butterflies. Rahter came in second in the 100 (1:09.96) and 200 (2:30.71) yard breaststrokes. She also had a third place (2:17.88) in the 200 individual medley. Julianne Furdyna (sr. Livingston, NJ/Livingston) took second (11:16.37) in the 1000 yard freestyle.
Stearns came in third in the 50 (26.18) and 100 (56.98) yard freestyles. Kate Toomer (so. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) captured third in the 500 (5:42.45) and 1000 (11:40.51) yard freestyles. The Profs also had third places from Adirenne Bush (fr. Silver Spring, MD/James Hubert Blake), 200 yard freestyle (2:07.30); Charlene Gustafson (fr. Clifton, NJ/Clifton), 200 yard butterfly (2:19.05); Lindsey Raleigh (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.), 100 yard backstroke (1:04.07) and Lauren Grajek (fr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.), 200 yard backstroke (2:19.25).
Rowan will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico after the holidays to train from January 5 to January 12.
