Morning Session Results

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men’s and women’s swim teams hosted the Rowan Cup Races on Saturday. The individual competition included swimmers from Swarthmore College, Widener University, York College (PA) and Rowan.

In the morning session, the Rowan women finished second in the 200 yard medley relay (1:58.00) and 400 yard freestyle relays (3:50.28). The medley relay consisted of Kate Winters (sr. Princeton Jct., NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.), Stacey Rahter (sr. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.), Anne O’Gorman (sr. Boonton, NJ/Academy of St. Elizabeth) and Teresa Stearns (so. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit). Allison Schneider (fr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford), Stearns, Rahter and Winters were on the freestyle relay.

Rowan won the men’s 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:18.38. The relay was comprised of Tim Dimond (so. Allentown, PA/Emmaus), Bill Malone (jr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), Jake Scaramazza (fr. Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) and Michael Brooks (sr. Brigantine, NJ/Holy Spirit). The 200 yard medley relay of Stefan Pietrobono (so. Newark, DE/Brandywine), Dan Bower (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.), Ryan McNally (sr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) and Jerry Capriotti (fr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) captured second place in 1:40.59.

Schneider won the women’s 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:21.00. She was second in the 200 yard freestyle (2:03.28). Winters was the winner in the 100 yard backstroke (1:02.34) and 200 yard freestyle (2:01.17). Rahter took first place in the 200 yard individual medley (IM) in 2:14.43. She was second in the 100 yard butterfly in 1:01.19. Julianne Furdyna (sr. Livingston, NJ/Livingston) had a third place in the 500 yard freestyle (5:25.64). In the 50 yard freestyle, Stearns came in second (26.31), followed by Rahter, third (26.32).

Capriotti finished first in the men’s 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.13. Bower won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:02.46. Dimond was the winner in the 200 yard freestyle (1:49.10). Kyle Banks (so. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) took second place in the 500 yard freestyle (5:03.13). Pietrobono and Malone came in second (55.72) and third (56.24) respectively in the 100 yard backstroke. Brian McDermott (sr. Bergenfield, NJ/Bergen Catholic) was third in the 100 yard butterfly (55.97).
