SAN ANTONIO, TX – Midfielder Ryan Jansen had an unassisted goal with 1:23 remaining to give Southwestern University a 3-2 victory over Rowan University on Saturday night. The game was played at Trinity University.

The Pirates improve to 5-4, while the Profs have a 3-8-2 record. The game was tied, 1-1 after the first half. Rowan back Jon Hampton (so. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) scored at 47:05 in the second period to make the score 2-1. Midfielder Ryan Gordon (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) and back Jake Dunn (jr. Vineland, NJ/Sacred Heart) both had an assist. Southwestern midfielder Zach Faulkner tied the game (2-2) at 70:01 with an assist from back Evan Perkins.

Southwestern out shot Rowan, 22-9. Pirates’ goalkeeper Daniel Poole played the first 45 minutes and Nick Pierce made two saves in the second half. Goalkeeper Michael Fanz-Huster (so. Waterford, NJ/Hammonton) was in the Profs’ net in the first period. Goalkeeper Charlie Cunliffe (sr. Lakewood, NJ/Lakewood) stopped seven shots in the final 45 minutes.

Gordon gave Rowan a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal at 6:50. At 29:49, Southwestern tied the score when forward Steven Resnik knocked in a pass from midfielder Alex Keller.

Rowan host William Paterson University in a conference game on Saturday, October 9 at 7 p.m.
