Ramapo Shuts Out Rowan, 3-0

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Ramapo College men’s soccer team shut out Rowan University, 3-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday night.

Forward Rob Santaniello (so. Oakland, NJ/Ramapo) led the Roadrunners with two goals while midfielder Joe Kane (so. Delran, NJ/Delran) contributed with one. Midfielder Francis Carr (sr. Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) and back Chris Freeman (fr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains) each added an assist.

Ramapo has an 8-2-3 overall record with a 3-1-2 conference mark. Rowan drops to 3-10-2 overall and 0-6 in the NJAC.

The Roadrunners took 14 shots while the Profs had six. Goalie Brad Stockton (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) had one save for his fourth shutout of the year. For Rowan, goalkeepers Charlie Cunliffe (sr. Lakewood, NJ/Lakewood) and Michael Fanz-Huster (so. Waterford, NJ/Hammonton) stopped three shots apiece with each playing a half.

Kane put Ramapo on the scoreboard at 18:20. He blasted a shot to the lower left corner of the Rowan net from the top right edge of the box after a pass from the midfield by Carr. In the second half, Santaniello scored on a breakaway at 57:50. He took a feed from Freeman and went around the Prof goalkeeper and shot into an open net. Santaniello added an insurance goal at 79:36 with a shot to the left side of the goal from the center of the box. He is the Roadrunners’ leading scorer with 36 points, 16 goals and four assists.

Rowan travels to conference opponent Rutgers-Newark on Saturday, October 16 for a 1 p.m. contest.
