ONEONTA, NY – The SUNY Oneonta women’s soccer team had a 2-1 win over Rowan University in the second day of the Mayor’s Cup Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

Midfielder Brittney Reilly (so. LaGrangeville, NY/Arlington) scored both goals for the Red Dragons. Back Allison Swiatowicz (fr. Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) totaled two assists. Forward Veronica Rhea (so. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) scored the Profs’ goal.

Oneonta has a 2-1-1 record and Rowan is 3-1 overall. On Friday, Rowan blanked Hartwick College, 6-0 while Oneonta lost 2-1 in double overtime against The College of New Jersey. TCNJ’s second game of the tournament was against Hartwick.

All of the scoring came in the second half. Rhea put Rowan up 1-0 on a direct kick at 56:55. Reilly tied the score with a high shot at 76:05 on a crossing pass from Swiatowicz. With 2:57 left, Reilly recorded the game winner assisted by Swiatowicz.

The Red Dragons finished the game with 13 total shots and the Profs took seven. Oneonta goalie Jamie Chyat (fr. Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Academy) made one save. Rowan goalkeeper Jillian Brannan (so. Saddle Brook, NJ/Saddle Brook) stopped five shots.

Prof forward Jess Babice (jr. Groveville, NJ/Steinert) and midfielder Christie Fink (so. Hamilton Square, NJ/Steinert) were named to the All-Tournament Team. In the Hartwick game, Babice scored two goals and had one assist.

Next, Rowan travels to Salisbury University on Wednesday, September 16 for a 4:30 p.m. nonconference game.
