MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Rowan University diver Bryan Carlisle came in sixth in the three meter diving at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday night. It was the last day of the national championships that were hosted by Macalester College.
Carlisle (sr. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.) totaled 478.40 points to earn All-American. After the morning prelims, he was in fourth place with 500.65 points. The top eight divers advanced to the final. The three meter champion was Nicholas Halbach from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy with 536.35 points.
On Thursday, Carlisle took second place in the one meter diving for All-America honors. He compiled 518.20 points in the final. Carlisle was fourth after the prelims with 477.30 points.
Carlisle qualified for the NCAA Championships all four years at Rowan. Last season, he came in third in the one meter diving (451.20 points) and fifth in the three meter (458.45 points) for All-America honors. In 2007, Carlisle finished fifth in the three meter (463.10 points) to earn All-American. He was also 13th in the one meter diving (397.55 points). Carlisle took 14th and 15th place in the one (401.50 points) and three meter (382.80 points) diving respectively at the 2006 national championships.
Mark Balesteri (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) finished 21st (362.90 points) in the three meter diving. He was also 21st on the one meter board (386.70 points). It was Balesteri’s first appearance at the national championships.
