PATCHOGUE, NY – The Rowan University women’s soccer team had a 7-0 victory over St. Joseph’s College (LI) in a nonconference game on Monday night.

The Profs improve to 11-1-1, while the Golden Eagles have a 3-10-1 record. Rowan was led by forward Melanie Wittenberger (fr. Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) with three goals. Forward Veronica Rhea (fr. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) recorded one goal and two assists.

Midfielders Evynn Wright (so. Marlton, NJ/Eastern Reg.), Audrey Gagnon (fr. South Amboy, NJ/South Amboy) and Michelle Borghese (fr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) each found the net once. Midfielders Nina Fragoso (so. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.), Katina Anthony (fr. Haddon Twp., NJ/Haddon Twp.) and Krista Verzi (sr. Delran, NJ/Delran) and back Caitlin Toomey (sr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) all had one assist.

At 26:37 in the first half, Rhea knocked in a pass from Verzi to give the Profs a 1-0 lead. Wright scored on a feed from Fragoso at 32:21 to make the score 2-0 at the intermission. Wittenberger found the net at 50:15, 57:29 and 65:55. Gagnon (83:26) and Borghese (84:09) closed out the scoring.

Rowan out shot St. Joseph’s, 30-0. Golden Eagles’ goalkeeper Dana Carney (sr. Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) made 14 saves. Goalkeeper Jillian Brannan (so. Saddle Brook, NJ/Saddle Brook) played the first 64:26 in the Profs’ net and goalie Kate Harman (sr. Laurel Springs, NJ/Sterling) was in goal for the final 25:34.

Rowan returns to its conference schedule on Wednesday, October 14 at 7 p.m. when it hosts Kean University.
