Forward Matt Byrnes (sr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) led the men’s basketball team to the Rinso Marquette Tournament title. In the first round against third ranked SUNY Brockport (Nov. 17), Byrnes scored a game-high 33 points. He also had five rebounds, two assists and two steals. In the championship versus York College (NY), Byrnes totaled 13 points, four boards, four assists and one steal. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Byrnes leads the Profs with 23.0 points per game. He has 1,494 career points and is 135 points away from breaking the University’s career scoring mark held by Terrance Stewart (1,628 points, 1992-96).
