Demetrius Rooks (so. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) took first place in the 400 meter hurdles at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships (May 19-20). Rooks posted a time of 52.34, which broke the meet record of 52.44 held by Yori Adegunwa of Ursinus College (2001). His time was better than the NCAA automatic (52.65) and surpassed his previously season best mark of 52.63. Rooks also anchored the 4x400 meter relay that captured second place in 3:14.34. The relay’s time was a NCAA provisional (3:16.40) and improved on its previous top time of 3:15.14. For his performance, Rooks collected his fourth New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Track Athlete of the Week honor.
