Mary Marino has been the head women’s lacrosse coach at Rowan University for 19 seasons. Marino has a 170-115 coaching mark for a .596 winning percentage. She has guided the Profs to NCAA Division III Championship Tournament appearances in 2006, 2002, 1999, 1995 and 1993.

In 2007, Rowan finished the season with a 7-9 record.  Rowan posted a 12-4 record in 2006. The Profs advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship Tournament. In 2005, the Profs finished with a 7-9 record. In 2004, Rowan had a final record of 8-6 and a 7-7 record in 2003. In 2002, the Profs were 12-5 overall and received a bid to the national tournament. Rowan had a final record of 9-6 in 2001 and 2000. In 1999, Rowan recorded its first ever NCAA win, an 18-9 triumph over Union (NY) in the first round. The team finished the 1999 season with a 13-4 mark.

Marino has also served as the assistant field hockey coach. She was the head field hockey coach from 1987 to 1997, compiling a record of 101-82-11. Marino guided the Profs to three NCAA field hockey appearances and two trips to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic Tournaments. The field hockey team made history in 1992 with a NCAA first round victory over Lebanon Valley. It was the first ever NCAA postseason win for Rowan in field hockey.

Prior to Rowan, Marino was an assistant field hockey coach and head lacrosse coach at Eastern Regional High School. She graduated from Beaver College in 1964 with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and later earned her master’s in education at Temple University. Marino played varsity basketball, field hockey and lacrosse in college. Marino was also a three-year member of the U.S. lacrosse team.

For lacrosse and field hockey, she has served on the NCAA Regional Ranking and the NCAA Regional All-American committees. In 1997, Marino was inducted into the New Jersey Chapter of Lacrosse Hall of Fame. In addition, Marino is the former president of the West Jersey Women’s Lacrosse Association and was the vice president of the Women’s Lacrosse Club of South Jersey. She was a U.S. national lacrosse squad coach and a member of the U.S. national selection committee. Marino has chaired both the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Regional All-American Committee and the NCAA Regional Ranking Committees. In addition, she is the author of the lacrosse book On Attack.
