This is Dan Gilmore’s 34th season as head coach of the Rowan University men’s soccer team. He is only the second coach in the history of the sport at the University. Gilmore began his coaching career with the Profs in 1976 and has compiled an overall won-lost record of 509-143-49, a .761 winning percentage. Gilmore collected his 500th victory in a 3-2 win over Neumann College on October 15, 2007. He is only the eighth coach in NCAA history to record 500 wins in a career.

Last year, Rowan finished with a 7-9-3 record. In 2007, the Profs had a 12-8-1 record and advanced to the semifinals of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament. In 2005, Rowan ended the season with a 10-8-2 record and reached the NJAC Tournament. Rowan posted a 9-8-3 record in 2005 and a 15-4-2 mark in 2004. The Profs advanced to the 2004 NJAC Championship Tournament.

In 2003, Rowan finished the season with a 19-6 record and won the conference championship tournament. Gilmore was named the NJAC Coach of the Year. The men's soccer team made its 15th straight, 24th overall, appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The Profs had a 15-4-2 record in 2002 and received a bid to the national tournament. In 2001, Rowan posted a 19-4 record and advanced to the Metro Region final of the national tournament.

Under Gilmore’s guidance, the Profs won the national title in 1990 and 1981. In 2000 and 1979, Rowan finished second in the nation and had third place finishes in 1998, 1985 and 1980. The Profs have a 29-19-2 record in the NCAA Tournament. Rowan has recorded 12 NJAC Championships. He served as Rowan’s head women’s soccer coach in 1998, compiling a 10-6-1 record.

Gilmore has been selected the NJAC Coach of the Year nine times with the most recent honor in 2003. Two Prof players were selected the Intercollegiate Soccer Association of America (ISAA) Division III Player of the Year, one was tabbed Goalkeeper of the Year and 17 were named All-American. He has served on various NCAA tournament selection and postseason honors committees. In the summer, Gilmore is director of the National Champion Soccer School.

He graduated from Plymouth State College (NH) in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and received his master’s from Eastern Illinois University. At Plymouth State, he was captain of the soccer team and named to the All-Conference and All-New England teams. Gilmore was inducted into the Plymouth State College Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
