LYNCHBURG, VA -
Mia Foti scored the game-winning with under five minutes to play to give Rowan a 2-1 win over #25 Lynchburg in field hockey action today. The win is the fifth straight for the Profs and second in a row over a Top 25 team, moving them to 5-3 on the year.
Foti took a pass from
Aurelia McManis off the penalty corner and scored at 55:47, for her third goal of the year and her first gamewinner.
Sydney Kowalczyk opened up the scoring in the first quarter with an unassisted goal at 11:14, for her team-best fifth goal of the season.
Lynchburg tied the contest with just 30 seconds to go before halftime and the teams would remain scoreless until Foti's late goal.
Ella Morton made four saves for Rowan while the Profs held a 16-9 edge in shots and an 8-4 advantage in corners.
Rowan continues its trip to Virginia on Sunday at noon by visiting #17 Washington and Lee before returning home to take on Messiah on Wednesday.
