SWARTHMORE, PA - Gracie Merrick's goal with two minutes remaining in the second overtime gave Rowan field hockey a 3-2 win over #24 Swarthmore, as the Profs start a three-game stretch vs. Top 25 opponents. Rowan (4-3) has now won four in a row.
 
The teams were two minutes away from going into a shootout when the Profs regained possession. Peyton Ryan intercepted an outlet pass, carried the ball upfield through Swarthmore's defenders and sent a shot on goal. Merrick collected the rebound and stuffed it inside the post for the gamewinner. It was the senior's second goal of the year.
 
In the evenly-matched battle, the teams traded goals throughout. Swarthmore (4-3) opened the scoring at 28:12 before Rowan senior Aurelia McManis scored as a result of a corner, when she picked up the rebound off a shot by Sophia Weisler to tie the game at 1-1.

The Garnet moved ahead again at 53:20, but Weisler scored her third goal of the season just minutes later, with the assist from Mia Foti, to force the 2-2 tie.
 
Swarthmore had a strong scoring chance in its possession before Merrick's goal, but it was stopped by Ella Morton and the Profs' defense. Morton made a career-high 10 saves as she faced 15 shots.
 
Rowan travels to meet a pair of nationally-ranked opponents this weekend in Virginia. The Profs will face #25 Lynchburg on Saturday at noon and then #17 Washington & Lee on Sunday, also at noon.
