EWING, NJ – #16 TCNJ scored five goals in the third quarter to pull away from #18 Rowan to earn a 10-7 win and claim the 2026 NJAC Women's Lacrosse Championship.
Rowan (14-4) will await an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship (May 9-10), as the 47-team bracket will be announced on Monday, May 4. The Profs are seeking their second straight appearance in the NCAA's.
Alexis Lowry and
Elaina Corson had two goals apiece for Rowan, while
Fiona Lockhart,
Trish Gillen and
Madison Rothwein also contributed a goal each. Rothwein also recorded six ground balls and five draw controls, while goalie
Kylie Durboraw made seven saves.
Rowan gained the upper hand in the first half. After going down 2-0, Gillen put the Profs on the board with just 1:03 to go in the first quarter. Rowan then used a 3-0 run during the second quarter to build a two-goal lead. The goals, courtesy of Corson, Lockhart and Lowry, all came within a two-minute span.
A TCNJ goal at the 3:15 mark cut the Rowan lead to 4-3 and that remained the halftime score.
TCNJ netted the first two goals of the third quarter but Corson tallied her NJAC-best 74th goal of the season to knot the game at 5-5. TCNJ scored three more goals, with Rothwein getting one in between, but the Profs trailed, 8-6 at the end of the third.
The Lions added two more in the fourth quarter, with the final goal at 6:55 giving them a 10-6 margin. Lowry scored Rowan's final goal at 5:18 but the Profs ran out of time.
