GLASSBORO, NJ -- #20 Rowan extended its win streak to 10 games after winning both games of a doubleheader against Penn State-Abington, taking game one, 3-2, and the nightcap, 9-0, in five innings.
Game one
Kate Evick's RBI single in the bottom of the fifth would be the eventual go-ahead run to break a 2-2 tie.
The Profs took advantage of two Nittany Lion errors in the first to get out to a 2-0 lead.
Mikayla Dansky, who reached on a lead off walk, later stole second base. On her attempt at swiping third, the throw down sailed into the outfield allowing the sophomore to race home for the game's first run.
Zoey Rogers followed with a triple and would later score on an error at short with two outs.
Starter
BethAnne Doderer (14-2) sent down Penn State-Abington in order over the first four innings before the Nittany Lions touched up the sophomore for two runs on a two-run single from Morgan Craig in the fifth.
In the bottom half, Rogers stole second after reaching on an infield hit to put herself in scoring position with two outs. Evick came through with a single to plate Rogers and help reclaim the lead.
Reliever
Madison Cooley closed the door on a potential two-out rally in the sixth with two on, and later locked up the save, her second this season, in the seventh.
Rogers and
Emma Dobkin each had two hits for Rowan. Doderer struck out five while yielding the two runs on three hits in her five innings of work.
Game two
Dansky and
Ava Fisher each cranked home runs while
Abigail Pawlowski added a two-run double to spark the offense as the game was ended after the fifth.
Fisher hit her team-leading fifth homer in the first inning, a three-run shot to stake the home team to a 3-0 edge. Dansky followed up the next inning with her second longball this year, as her two-run dinger made it 5-0.
In the fourth, Pawlowski drove in two runs with her double as the Profs got another RBI hit from Evick and Fisher would add her fourth RBI of the game on a groundout to account for the scoring.
Emily McCutcheon (12-5) allowed just two hits with three K's and a walk over four innings. Fisher spun a 1-2-3 fifth to end things and move the win streak to 10.
Pawlowski, Rogers, and
Zara MacNair each scored twice.
The Profs welcome William Paterson to Glassboro on Saturday in an NJAC twinbill for the team's senior day. Game one gets underway at 1 p.m. Senior day festivities will take place after the second game.
