#6 Softball Shuts Out SUNY-Oneonta in a Doubleheader Sweep, 8-0 and 6-0

NEWARK, DE -- #6 Rowan swept two from SUNY-Oneonta, 8-0, and 6-0 at the University of Delaware's Delaware Diamond Monday afternoon in a doubleheader.

Abigail Pawlowski drove in a total of five runs in the two games as the Profs took on the Red Dragons that counted as the home opener for Rowan.

Game one
BethAnne Doderer (2-0) threw her first career shutout, striking out three with just one walk and three hits as the game was ended in the sixth.

Pawlowski knocked in two runs as part of a three-run first inning. Kate Evick's first career triple drove in a run in the second to help the Profs get out to a 5-0 edge.

Now up 7-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Maggie Funston scored pinch runner Jodi McGuigan on a grounder to second to kick in the eight-run rule.

Funston ended the game with two RBI's while fellow rookie Emma Dobkin went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Game two
Emily McCutcheon held Oneonta without a hit until the fifth while fanning five to even her record at 2-2. The senior struck out five batters in six innings of work. Madison Cooley struck out two of her three batters she faced in the seventh.

Pawlowski paced the offense, going 2-for-3 and tying a career high with three RBI's. Dobkin and Mikayla Dansky also had two hits apiece while Aly Reim added a two-run single to highlight a five-run third.

It was more than enough for McCutcheon, who sent the Red Dragon bats down in order until a lead-off single just over the glove of shortstop Zoey Rogers in the fifth.

The Profs will head to Florida on its Spring Break Trip as action gets underway from The Spring Games this Friday with games against #20 Case Western Reserve and Wittenberg.
