GLASSBORO, NJ -
Madison Rothwein scored five goals and
Fiona Lockhart added four as #15 Rowan defeated Catholic, 13-9, in a women's lacrosse matchup. The Profs run their winning streak to five games while improving to 8-2 on the year.
Â
It was a career-high in goals for Rothwein, while Lockhart matched her personal best with the total, while adding an assist.
Alexis Lowry was the only other Prof with multiple goals in the win.
Kylie Durboraw made nine saves for Rowan as the teams were deadlocked with 18 shots on goal apiece.
Â
Although Catholic (5-5) took an early 2-0 lead, Rothwein got the Profs on the board just two minutes later and Lowry scored the tying goal before the end of the first quarter.
Â
Rowan would never trail again as it scored three in a row, with two from Lockhart, to go up by a 5-2 score. The Profs would outscore the Cardinals, 7-2, in that quarter to take a 9-4 lead at halftime.
Â
Catholic was responsible for the only two goals of the third quarter as it cut its deficit to 9-6.
Â
With the first goal of the fourth quarter, Catholic came within, 9-7, but Lockhart responded with back-to-back goals to give Rowan an 11-7 lead. Rothwein notched Rowan's last two goals in the final six minutes to help provide the final margin.
Â
Rowan will host #22 Christopher Newport on Saturday with a noon start time.
