#10 Softball Wins Second Game of Doubleheader at #25 Eastern to Earn Split

ST. DAVIDS, PA -- #10 Rowan battled #25 Eastern to a non-conference split on Wednesday. The Eagles took game one, 4-2, but the Profs stormed to an 8-0 victory in six innings in the nightcap.

Game one
Zoey Rogers had two hits including an RBI double with Mikayla Dansky adding a pair of walks and a run scored and Zara MacNair going 2-for-3 with a run for the Profs. The Eagles built a three-run lead before Rowan looked to answer in the seventh inning.

After Eastern crossed a run in the bottom of the first, Rogers doubled home MacNair with two outs in the top half. The Eagles responded with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the frame to reclaim the one-run edge.

Rogers almost had her second RBI of the game in the fourth with runners on first and second. Her base hit to left sent pinch runner Lauren Foltz around third but would be out at the plate.

Starter Emily McCutcheon (6-4) struck out six over six innings, allowing the four runs on nine hits.

Ava Fisher cut into the three-run lead in the seventh with her RBI single to plate Dansky, but the Profs could pull no closer.

Game two
BethAnne Doderer fired off a three-hit shutout as the game was ended after six innings. Rookie Carly Polsky added two doubles and two RBI's while Fisher hit her fourth home run on the year.

Kate Evick and Abigail Pawlowski each had RBI doubles as Rowan scored in every inning but the first en route to the eight-run rule after the sixth.

Doderer fanned four while yielding just two walks to move to 8-1 on the season.

Polsky's RBI single in the second staked the visiting Profs to a 1-0 lead in the second. Fisher followed in the third with a two-run homer to right for a three-run cushion. Evick, Pawlowski, and Polsky all added RBI doubles as part of a three-run fifth.

Rowan will host Montclair State this Saturday to open New Jersey Athletic Conference play. The first game of the doubleheader in Glassboro is scheduled for 1 p.m.
