Fisher, Pawlowski Key Two Wins for #16 Softball at The Spring Games to Extend Win Streak to Five

KISSIMMEE, FL -- #16 Rowan pushed its win streak to five game after two wins on Tuesday at The Spring Games in Florida. The Profs took down Ithaca, 6-0, then posted a 3-1 victory over Wisconsin-Platteville.

Game one
Abigail Pawlowski drove in three runs and Emily McCutcheon struck out five over six scoreless innings in the win over the Bombers. Aly Reim added two runs, and RBI and a stolen base as well.

Pawlowski and Ava Fisher each had two hits and a run scored as Rowan broke open a one-run game with a three-run fifth.

McCutcheon had just one walk and six hits as she improved to 4-3 on the season. Madison Cooley pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh to close it out.

Game two
Fisher provided the offense, smacking a pair of home runs to account for the Prof scoring. Zara MacNair was 2-for-3 with a double.

With Zoey Rogers on second base in the bottom of the first, Fisher got just enough on a 1-1 pitch over the fence in left for her first Rowan homer and a 2-0 lead.

Platteville cut the lead in half in the fourth as Allison Peters hit a solo home run off of starter BethAnne Doderer (6-1). Fisher answered with a solo shot in the fifth to reclaim the two-run edge.

It was the only blemish on Doderer's day, as the sophomore yielded just five hits and no walks. She would help end the game in the top of the seventh with a key double play. With a runner on first and one out, Doderer snagged a liner right back at her and threw to first to lock up the team's fifth win in a row.

Rowan will take on NYU and Nazareth tomorrow as action continues in Florida.
