#16 Softball Takes Down NYU and Nazareth to Raise Win Streak to Seven Games

WINTER HAVEN, FL -- #16 Rowan racked up wins against NYU and Nazareth on Wednesday at The Spring Games as the team's win streak extends to seven in a row.

The Profs scored nine unanswered runs over the final three innings to push past NYU, 11-4, while a five-run second inning helped Rowan take down Nazareth, 6-3.

Game one
Abigail Pawlowski was 2-for-5 with three runs and three RBI's while Ava Fisher added three hits and two runs scored as Rowan erased a 4-2 deficit with four runs each in the sixth and seventh innings.

Down 1-0 and with runners in scoring position in the third, Paige Russell hit a ball off the first baseman's glove which caromed into foul territory to score Pawlowski and Aly Reim to take a one-run lead.

The Violets answered with three runs on one hit and three walks. After an unearned run crossed in the fifth, the Profs went ahead for good on Reim's two-run single in the sixth. Pawlowski added a double to right to plate Reim and later scored on a sac fly from Carly Polsky for a 7-4 lead.

Pawlowski knocked in Zoey Rogers and Ava Fisher and would score on a throwing error to highlight a four-run seventh.

Pitcher Madison Cooley (1-0) notched her first win on the season as she entered in relief in the third and allowed just two hits the rest of the way.

Game two
Fisher and Mikayla Dansky each had three hits and the Profs took advantage of a two-out error in the second to score five runs to stay ahead of Nazareth.

Emily McCutcheon (7.0 IP, 10 H, 2 ER, 4 Ks, 0 BB) battled through all seven innings to pick up her fifth win this season (5-3).

The Golden Flyers struck for a run in the first before Rowan countered with its five-spot in the second. Russell would reach on an error at short. RBI singles from Zara MacNair and Dansky plated runs before a Nazareth pitching change. Rogers later followed with an RBI infield hit and Fisher capped the scoring with a two-run double.

After 1-2-3 innings in the fourth and fifth, McCutcheon worked out a spot in the sixth. Nazareth crossed a run and had runners in scoring position with one out, but the senior left hander recorded a strikeout and pop up to squash the threat.

Rowan will close out action in Florida on Friday taking on Hartwick and Wisconsin-River Falls.
