WINTER HAVEN, FL -- #20 Rowan totaled 33 runs in its two wins on Sunday as the Profs took care of SUNY-Fredonia, 17-0, and Manchester, 16-4, at The Spring Games in Florida.
Mikayla Dansky totaled six hits, seven runs and five stolen bases in the two games as the Profs also had 29 hits and eight walks on the day.
Game one
A 10-run first inning helped propel the offense while the duo of
BethAnne Doderer and
Emma Dobkin combined on a one-hitter in the victory over the Blue Devils.
Ava Fisher added a pair of RBI doubles in that first inning, as the squad put together eight hits and took advantage of two Fredonia errors to get out to a big lead.
Rowan tacked on six runs in the fourth to add to the lead. Doderer (4-1) went three innings while Dobkin spun the final two as the game was ended after the fifth.
Dansky was 3-for-3 with three runs scored while
Maggie Funston drove in three runs.
Game two
The bats came alive in the latter innings, breaking open a 4-4 in the fifth. Dansky had three hits and added four runs and three stolen bases, both career bests, while
Aly Reim added a three-run triple.
RBIs from Fisher and
Abigail Pawlowski in Rowan's first at-bat made it 2-0 before the Spartans answered with three runs in the bottom half.
Paige Russell's sac fly plated Reim in the third to knot things up at 4-4.
Doderer (5-1) entered in the fourth for starter
Madison Cooley and yielded just one hit the rest of the way to score her second pitching victory on the day. Â
After a pair of runs scored in the fifth on a double from Pawlowski, Rowan crossed four runs in the fifth and added a six-spot in the seventh which featured Reim's bases loaded-clearing triple.
The team will get back at in the Sunshine State on Tuesday with games against Ithaca and Wisconsin-Platteville.
