#20 Softball Splits with Bowdoin and Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday at The Spring Games

WINTER HAVEN, FL -- #20 Rowan battled through a tough 4-3 loss in nine innings to Bowdoin but rebounded with a 5-3 victory over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday at The Spring Games in Florida.

Game one
The Profs trailed 1-0 until the sixth, before an RBI single from Mikayla Dansky tied things up. Bowdoin and Rowan would trade runs in each extra inning before the Polar Bears were able to plate a walk-off run on an error for the 4-3 decision.

Zara MacNair had two hits and Zoey Rogers scored twice as the duo each swiped a base. Starter Emily McCutcheon (3-3) allowed four runs (one earned) on six hits with four strikeouts and no walks.

Dansky's RBI sac fly in the eighth briefly gave Rowan a 2-1 lead. Bowdoin countered in the bottom half, crossing a run on a safety squeeze. After Abigail Pawlowski drove in pinch runner Maddyn Rittler in the ninth to go back up 3-2, the Polar Bears won in their at-bat, getting an RBI double from Maddie Paschke and later with the bags full, a grounder off the bat of Anika Ewert was misplayed, allowing the game-winning run to cross.

Game two
Rogers was 2-for-3 at the plate and added a two-run single in the third to help the Profs get out to a 5-0 lead.

BethAnne Doderer (3-1) fanned four over four scoreless innings on just four hits to earn the win. Madison Cooley tossed two shutout innings to earn her first collegiate save.

Dansky and Ava Fisher each walked twice for Rowan.

The Bishops cut into the lead, scoring three runs on three hits and an error in the fifth before Dooley came on and shut the door to help lock up the win.

Tomorrow, the Profs take on SUNY-Fredonia at 10 a.m. followed by a matchup with Manchester following the first game.
